Why this job might NOT be the right fit for you:

You are NOT looking for a part time job.
There are no set or guaranteed hours with this position, and your schedule will change from week to week, often with little notice from clients.
Your availability changes frequently.
You are not available to work during the holidays.
We are known for our long HOT summers and hurricane season in Texas. We work outdoors in all weather - rain or shine, hot or cold.
We go to client’s homes, so you will be expected to drive your own vehicle to each pet sit or dog walk, or pet wedding attendant service. We drive A LOT, and spend a good amount of time on the road.

Requirements:

You must be at least 18 years old and be able to pass a federal background check.
You must have a valid driver’s license and your own reliable transportation with auto insurance.
You must have a working smartphone (iPhone or Android) and be able to use apps and communicate via text message with ease.
Be able to physically lift up to 50lbs.
It is highly recommended that you should have another source of income, as this job does not guarantee any specific or set hours and is meant to be supplemental income.

A Pet Care Specialists main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

(“Pet Care Specialist” is the title we give our Dog Walkers, Pet Sitters & Pet Wedding Attendants.)

Responsible for the overall safety and well-being of all pets in their care during a visit.
Responsible for the safety and security of the clients home in which the pets live.
Being able to relay peace of mind through clear communication, knowledge of pet care, quality photos, constant & positive interactions with pets and humans.
Foster pet happiness through play, love, stimulation, basic training, activity and overall positive interaction with all pets in their care during visits.
Be able to follow specific instructions, and pay close attention to details both big and small.
Driving to and from clients homes for pet care visits.
Be willing and available to assist as a second Pet Wedding Attendant, for weddings with more than one pet involved as needed.
You will be required to check in, and check out of visits using our mobile pet software smartphone app, and write clear, positive and informative visit updates with pictures to let clients know how their pets are doing.
Pet Care Specialist team members must have a smartphone that is equipped with a high-quality camera and a strong battery life. It is also very helpful to have unlimited (or a very high) data limit. Our team uses an employee app that enables the GPS tracking of visits, provides access to pet information profiles, and allows communication with directly with clients.
As a Pet Care Specialist team member, a typical day will mainly be filled with walking dogs, giving abundant affection and attention to animals of every size, shape, and behavior.
We care for dogs that are as small as a few pounds, to those who exceed 100+lbs. We serve and care for all breeds of dogs and cats, as well as any caged pets in the client’s home. We also care for chickens, ducks and more. It is important that team members are comfortable and proficient in caring for pets of all kinds and sizes.
This job also demands consistent physical activity, between walking dogs or playing with them in the backyard, clearing up pet waste/messes, cleaning and refreshing litter boxes, picking up toys, providing food and fresh water, washing food/water bowls, administering medications and engaging with pets. We also provide home duties such as retrieving mail/packages, watering plants, setting out garbage cans, and rotating lights/blinds, there’s much to do and few moments to sit down. However the perks of being paid to care for the sweetest and cutest pets, spend time out in nature, and being able to stay active make it all worth while and then some!
You will occasionally have to clean up something disgusting and gross. We deal with poop every single day, occasionally some vomit, and other odd major messes. Pet care and ownership is messy and we always do what needs to be done to keep pets happy and healthy while they are in our care.

Compensation:

Paid training at $7.25 per hour for the duration of training.
Our team members can expect to earn $11-$13 per hour during their first 90 days.
Our pay structure is comprised of: Hourly Wages + Gratuity (when/if applicable and given).
With The Golden Leash Dog Walking and Pet Sitting LLC you are hired as an employee. We do NOT hire or use independent contractors.
When employed with us you are protected by our liability insurance, bonding, and worker’s compensation insurance.
We will supply you with a company “The Golden Leash Dog Walking and Pet Sitting” T-shirt & vest, canvas tote bag, leashes, poop bags and a few other helpful supplies.
Upon successful completion and proof of passing a pet first aid and CPR course, we will reimburse you.
